Article in the Boston Globe
Coming fast on the heels of the editorial in the Monday issue of the Globe comes today’s feature article on MayDOG. Check it out here.
For the most part, I am pleased with how the article turned out. Hopefully it will lead to a good turnout at our August 1 Kids & K-9s workshop and generate lots of interest in our group.

A positive editorial about the issue of off-leash recreation was published in today’s Globe. Check it out.
Marblehead Park Update
Interesting article about the situation in Marblehead, where organizers have been trying to establish a dog park for several years. They’ve raised only $12,000 out of an estimated $40,000 needed. Even so, they expect to open in September if they manage to get enough volunteer labor to finish the fence.
They’re holding a fundraiser on August 9.
Dogs in the Workplace
Small businesses can’t always compete with larger businesses in terms of employee benefits, but one thing any business can do is institute a dog-friendly workplace and allow employees to bring their dogs to work.
In surveys, employees say that they would work longer hours, or even take a paycut, if they could bring their furry family members to work. And anecdotal evidence suggests that having dogs in the workplace can be a great stress reliever - for dog owners and their co-workers.
Here are two great videos on how to create great dog-friendly workplace policies:

Also interesting: this article mentioning Massachusetts and the Trustees of Reservations as having an “enlightened policy [on] allowing dogs off leash”.
