We’ve been to the ones in Medway and Saugus. Medway’s is about an acre, nicely shaded, with small and large dog areas. The one in Saugus is a little smaller, also shaded, and located about a mile or so down a wooded trail, which is nice. Both are about a 45-minute drive from Boston.
Have gone to the Joe Wex at Peter’s Park. Its pretty nice- no grass to cut just walkways and rocks/mulch. They have a big dog area and a little dog area though the little dogs can go into either. I haven’t been to any other’s so I don’t know how to compare its size. It’s maybe the size of a basketball court?
I was so excited to see that there’s now a Dog Park in Marshfield, MA. But….when I went to the website listed, it turns out it’s in Marshfield, Wisconsin!
Thanks for pointing out the error, Barry! I’ve removed that one from the map.
My pit bull,Jack is very, very friendly agressive. He wants to play and run around but I am afraid to take him off leash if there are other dogs around. I did take him to puppy school and he went wild with all the other dogs. Jack is not a fighter, just a pushy player. My question is about the dog park at the MSPCA – Is it crowed with lots of other dogs?
Lynne,
I am not familiar with the MSPCA dog park. I suggest you contact them directly. You may also want to try other area dog parks that are less crowded at off peak hours. If he is still young then the other dogs will let him know when enough is enough. Maybe try it in short intervals (say starting at 10-15 minutes. Thanks for visting!
I’d like to have a dog park in South Hadley, MA, and would welcome any comments from people who have successfully spearheaded the building of one in their own community. Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me!
I just want to add that there is a dog park in Falmouth, here’s the website http://falmouthdogpark.blogspot.com/. Okay just wanted to let you guys know!
There is a new dog park in Fall River, MA on the corner of Locust Street and North Quary Street. It is fenced in and split into 2 areas for large and small dogs to go off leash. They are working to add benches for owners and equipment for the dogs to play on.
There is a large dog park in Hingham, MA called Bear Cove. The park was recently converted into a dog park, is paved and provides a nice long walk for the two-legged kind as well. It is fenced except for the river side, which is actually an inlet leading out into Hingham Bay. You can frequently view seals, jumping fish and cormorants.
Please note that Bare Cove is not a dedicated dog park, it is however dog friendly. Please review park rules before visiting.
